A major piece of Pete Frates’s legacy is headed for Cooperstown: The bucket that Frates used in his original 2014 Ice Bucket Challenge will forever reside in the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum.
Since going viral in the summer of 2014, millions of people have participated in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, helping to raise more than $220 million to help fight amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS. The challenge gained attention largely thanks to the efforts of Frates, a former Boston College baseball player who was diagnosed with ALS in 2012.
