Pedro’s fun never done

When the Pedro Martinez parade took its first baby steps at Fenway Park in April 1998, nobody quite knew where it would lead and how long it would last.

Last night, the answer arrived — the Pedro parade is never-ending.

Martinez’ No. 45 took its place on the right field facade at Fenway, retired forever by the organization which reaped the benefits of his peak seasons. He joined an elite group of Red Sox legends, but with one striking difference: Nobody approaches the irrepressible joy, electric personality and back story of Pedro Martinez.

And that, far more than the Cy Youngs and the jaw-dropping numbers, is what Martinez wants fans to remember whenever they glance at his No.
