BOSTON -- On the occasion of David Ortiz's final Fenway Park opener, the Red Sox made sure he was surrounded by Boston sports legends.
Bobby Orr, Bill Russell and Pedro Martinez were among the attendees Monday for a pregame ceremony that lasted approximately 30 minutes and recognized Ortiz, the iconic Red Sox slugger who plans to retire at the end of the season.
After a video of Ortiz's career highlights set to John Lennon's "Imagine" played on the scoreboard and the Red Sox and Baltimore Orioles were announced on the baselines, Ortiz's daughter, Alex, surprised her father by signing the national anthem.
