BOSTON -- Dustin Pedroia had his left knee and ankle examined at Massachusetts General Hospital during Monday's off-day, and it doesn't appear the second baseman will have to go on the 10-day disabled list.
The Red Sox released a statement declaring that Pedroia remains day to day after Baltimore's Manny Machado slid into him on Friday night.
Pedroia didn't play on Saturday or Sunday. The Red Sox open a 10-game homestand against the Yankees on Tuesday night at Fenway Park.
Third baseman Pablo Sandoval's availability for that game is also in question, as he sprained his right knee during Sunday's 6-2 win, and he will undergo an MRI on Monday at Massachusetts General Hospital.
