PawSox reviewing proposal after lukewarm reception

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — A spokeswoman for the Pawtucket Red Sox said the team owners are looking for an "entirely different way" to structure a public-private partnership to build a stadium in Providence after an initial proposal for $120 million in state subsidies got a lukewarm reception.

Patti Doyle made the comments Wednesday, ahead of a closed-door caucus of House Democrats where they will discuss the stadium proposal and other topics, like the budget.

Several House lawmakers said before the caucus they were unhappy with the initial proposal but were open to alternative plans that could be a better deal for the state.
