PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Pawtucket Red Sox principal owner Larry Lucchino has taken a stroll around a downtown Providence parcel that's been pitched as an alternative location for the team's proposed ballpark.
PawSox spokeswoman Patti Doyle said Thursday that Lucchino, president of the Boston Red Sox, took an informal tour of the Victory Place site in response to suggestions from the public about alternative locations for the stadium. Lucchino's low-key visit on Wednesday was first reported by the Providence Journal.
JAG Investment Realty owns the Victory Place parcel near Davol Square.
Doyle says Lucchino's visit doesn't indicate there's any problem with the state-owned downtown Providence parcel the team wants to build on.
