PAWTUCKET, R.I. — The chairman of the Pawtucket Red Sox says the team now wants a "publicly owned" stadium to be built in Pawtucket.

The Providence Journal reports that Larry Lucchino made the comments Monday during a meeting about the city's future.

Lucchino says negotiations with city and state leaders are focusing on two riverfront parcels near Interstate 95. He didn't estimate how much it would cost.

The Triple-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox plays at Pawtucket's McCoy Stadium.
