Pablo Sandoval is a free-swinger, but he might regret swinging at the final high-and-tight fastball he saw from White Sox lefty Chris Sale.
The pitch hit Sandoval in the left wrist on his follow-through, causing him to drop the bat in obvious pain and forcing him out of the game in the fifth inning on Thursday night. The Red Sox announced that Sandoval had a left forearm contusion.
Sandoval, who also left Wednesday's game after the fifth inning due to dehydration, is swinging at 45.3 percent of the pitches he’s seen outside of the strike zone this season, the second-highest mark in the majors, according to fangraphs.
