It’s been eight days since Pablo Sandoval last recorded a hit.
He was benched again on Monday night, the third straight game he was not in the Red Sox’ starting lineup.
“He wants to be on the field, there’s no question about that,” manager John Farrell said hours before the first pitch against the Phillies at Fenway Park.
But Farrell has plenty of reasons to keep him off the field. Sandoval has offered little at the plate, often takes too long to release the ball at third base and/or rushes his throws to the point of inaccuracy and has shown average range, at best.
