Pablo Sandoval arrives to Red Sox camp eight days early

FORT MYERS -- There was a vibrant voice adding energy to the Red Sox’ morning workout at JetBlue Park on Thursday morning.

Pablo Sandoval, who missed nearly the entire 2016 season recovering from shoulder surgery, made his arrival eight days before the team's first official full squad workout.

Appearing more svelte, the word once used by hopeful president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski, Sandoval took swings from both sides of the cage during an informal batting practice session thrown by assistant hitting coach Victor Rodriguez.

In good spirits, Sandoval was laughing with teammates during a morning throwing session as he introduced himself to new faces down the right field line of a practice field.
