BOSTON -- Pablo Sandoval, who had started 36 of Boston’s first 40 games at third base, sat out Thursday for the second straight night with a sore left knee.

Sandoval has not played since being struck by a 94-mph fastball from Texas left-handed reliever Sam Freeman.
