Red Sox slugger David Ortiz will retire after the 2016 season, according to a report by FoxSports.com. Neither Ortiz nor the Red Sox have confirmed the report.
Ortiz, who will turn 40 on Wednesday, has become one of the league's most popular players this decade while helping the Red Sox win three World Series championships. He belted his 500th home run this past season and currently has 503, which ranks 27th among the Major Leagues' all-time leaders.
