BALTIMORE — Again, the Red Sox' pitching let them down.
For almost four innings, all was quiet at Camden Yards Thursday night.
Rick Porcello’s sinker had some vicious movement on it. Ubaldo Jimenez had the Red Sox hitters whiffing over his slider, splitter and curve.
While balls had been flying out of the park for much of this series, with the Red Sox hitting 13 homers in the first three games, Thursday night’s contest had the making of a pitcher’s duel for 21 outs.
Porcello had Mark Trumbo behind on a 1-2 count when Trumbo crushed a changeup over the left-field fence, opening the game for the Orioles, who surged on toward a 12-7 win, overwhelming and perhaps embarrassing the Red Sox pitching staff over the final two games of this series.
