The New York Yankees have traded reliever Adam Ottavino to the Boston Red Sox.
The trade is the first deal between the AL East rivals since one involving Stephen Drew and Kelly Johnson in 2014.
In addition to Ottavino, the Yankees announced they are sending RHP Frank German to Boston, with a source telling ESPN's Buster Olney $850,000 is also heading to the Red Sox. Boston, in exchange, will send either a player to be named later or cash considerations to New York.
Ottavino signed a three-year, $27 million contract with the Yankees ahead of the 2019 season.
