DENVER — Tom Murphy's first major league hit helped pave the way for his first big league home run.
Murphy followed his RBI single with a homer and the Colorado Rockies overcame the loss of starting pitcher Yohan Flande after he was struck in the left leg by a line drive for a 10-2 victory over the San Diego Padres on Saturday night.
"After that first hit, I kind of relaxed and got a little more comfortable," Murphy said. "Each game you're here, you get a little more comfortable. I thought my approach the whole time I've been here has been pretty good but tonight it came together.
