This isn’t a gimmick. Mookie Betts might have a chance to win this thing.
Betts, the 22-year-old outfielder who just finished his first full season with the Red Sox with a .291 average and .820 OPS, will be starting his professional bowling career in December. He officially registered for the PBA World Series of bowling that will begin Dec. 8 in Reno, Nev.
According to a press release, the PBA contacted Betts to invite him to the tournament when they stumbled upon media reports of Betts’ bowling escapades.
He averaged 230 at John Overton High School in Tennessee while playing on both the bowling and basketball teams during the winter sports season.
