Mookie Betts met up with LeBron James

How is Mookie Betts spending his offseason? For one evening, with LeBron James.

The Red Sox outfielder escaped the rainy Boston-weather to sit courtside at the FedExForum in Memphis on Saturday to watch the Lakers defeat the Grizzlies in a narrow 109-108 win.

Betts met up with the Lakers’ forward, who finished with 30 points, six rebounds, and four assists, and posted a picture to Instagram. He captioned the photo with a crown-emoji — “ud83dudc51” — to honor “King” James.

Although they’ll never face off on the field (or the court), Betts and James did compete for the Associate Press Male Athlete of the Year award in 2018, when Betts was voted runner-up to James.
