Frank Wren reportedly may be out of the mix to be the next general manager of the Boston Red Sox, a few days after he was rumored to be a leading candidate for the vacant position.
Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports tweets Wren is happy in his current position as Boston’s senior vice president of baseball operations and is “unlikely” to again become a GM.
Wren has plenty of experience in a general manager’s role, most recently serving as GM of the Atlanta Braves from 2007-14. He also has a long history with Red Sox president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski, having worked together in Montreal and Miami before reuniting in Boston.
