For a while, it has seemed as though Boston was the only team really competing for the services of star hitter J.D. Martinez. It didn’t really make a ton of sense given his offensive talent — regardless of what you think his overall value is, it seems wild that someone as talented as Martinez wouldn’t have multiple teams chasing him — but now it seems the Diamondbacks are in on him too. We’ve talked about this a bit before, and the rumors that he may take a one-year deal from Arizona and hit the market again next year doesn’t really make much sense to me.
