MLB launches ALS fundraising drive in honor of Pete Frates

Pete Frates has made it his life’s mission to raise awareness and money for the fight against ALS.

Now Major League Baseball is lending a big hand.

MLB announced today it is starting a major fund-raising effort in honor of Frates and is also tying the campaign to the memory of Lou Gehrig, the Yankees of Hall of Famer who died from the disease and whose name is synonymous with ALS.

MLB Fights ALS, a league-wide campaign that will run from Aug. 1-5, aims to raise $1 million. MLB is commissioning the campaign with a donation of $50,000.
