Happy day after the trade deadline, folks! This is probably the week of the year where the minor league system is most under a microscope. And, in this year’s case, for good measure: Red Sox CBO Craig Breslow kind of cooked, though he didn’t burn the house down, as the team had its first buying season (if even a passive purchasing deadline) in years. Gone is second-baseman Nick Yorke in exchange for 23-year-old fringe starter Quinn Priester. So too are Salem follower-after-opener pitcher Ovis Portes for Reds reliever Lucas Sims, former early draft pick Cutter Coffey, and, most notably, at the buzzer for 37-year-old reliever Luis Garcia (who’s having a pretty bang-up season so far), a trio of triple-A talents, Niko Kavadas, Ryan Zeferjahn, and Matt Lugo.
