It was a rough Independence Day all around for the Woo Sox. Starter Richard Fitts was rolling through three innings, before allowing a 3-run homer to Yolmer Sanchez in the fourth. From there, the Mets added two runs in each of the following three innings off of reliever Chase Shugart to open up a 9-1 lead by the seventh.
Six-year MLB veteran Joey Lucchesi threw seven excellent innings to shut down the Worcester offense, who had only four hits on the day, with their lone run scored on an error.
Grant Gambrell (3-6, 4.72) will take the mound on Friday at 6:45 ET for Worcester, with Syracuse’s pitcher TBD.
