Miguel Cabrera on paternity suit: I’m here to play baseball

A day after reporting to spring training in Lakeland, Fla., Detroit Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera declined to comment on his ongoing paternity suit.

“I’m just here to play baseball,” Cabrera said Monday.

Cabrera is being sued by his ex-mistress, Belkis Rodriguez, claiming he isn’t paying enough child support for the two children he fathered with her; a son (5) and a daughter (2 1/2).

Cabrera fathered two children with the Florida woman. He is married to Rosangel Cabrera and together the couple has three children.

Cabrera pays $15,000 a month in child support and helped Rodriguez buy a nearly $1 million mansion in a gated community in Orlando.
