FORT MYERS -- With 22 wins, the Red Sox finished their exhibition schedule on top of the Grapefruit League standings.
Asked what he thought of his club this spring, manager Alex Cora said, “Besides the frigging best record in baseball? I mean, it went well.”
It seemed like he was joking, but there might be something to a good spring. The Red Sox have been at least .500 in spring training games during each of their last three championship seasons, going 17-17 in 2013, 15-12 in 20076 and 17-11 in 2004.
They were 11-17 in 2012, the Bobby Valentine year.
