PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker says the owners of the Pawtucket Red Sox have not approached him amid negotiations with Rhode Island over the team's wish to build stadium in downtown Providence.
The team has said if it doesn't get the land along the Providence River and a deal with Rhode Island, it will look to move to another state.
The Triple-A affiliate requested $120 million in state subsidies for its plan. State leaders rejected it and are working on a counter-proposal.
When asked whether he supports public subsidies for a stadium, Baker said on Wednesday that it depends on the details.
