Hanley Ramirez was noticeably absent from the Red Sox’ trip to New York this week, but Red Sox interim manager Torey Lovullo assured reporters that Ramirez was not starting his offseason vacation early.
It may not be a good look for the team’s highest-paid player to leave a week early and fly back to his home in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., but Lovullo said each player’s circumstance is different, and Ramirez felt most comfortable beginning his offseason training program with his own personal trainer at home.
Ramirez finished the season on the 15-day disabled list with a sore right shoulder.
