Larry Lucchino timeline

Feb. 27, 2002: John Henry, Tom Werner and Larry Lucchino close a deal to purchase the Red Sox. Lucchino is appointed the president and CEO, and is put in charge of running the team’s baseball operations.

Feb. 28, 2002: A day after the sale goes through, Lucchino fires general manager Dan Duquette. Mike Port takes the reins as acting GM for the season.

March 6, 2002: Lucchino fires manager Joe Kerrigan, citing inexperience. Indians bench coach Grady Little is hired to replace him five days later.
