DETROIT—There were no postgame high-fives from Red Sox closer Koji Uehara Friday night, even though he’d saved another Red Sox win.

He was in too much pain, hopping around the mound in agony and eventually dropping to a knee in the aftermath of the close call he had Friday night, when he was struck in the right wrist by a line drive off the bat of Ian Kinsler, Detroit’s last batter in a 7-2 Red Sox win over the Tigers in Comerica Park.
