Red Sox manager John Farrell looks for early indicators in Steven Wright’s delivery whenever the knuckleball pitcher takes his turn on the mound.
Wright will make his second start of the season in the finale of a two-game series against the Orioles tonight at Fenway Park.
Wright struggled in his first start, getting a no-decision in a 6-5 loss to the Detroit Tigers. Wright went 62⁄3 innings and allowed seven hits (one home run) and four earned runs with three walks and four strikeouts.
“It took him an inning to establish his release point in the first inning, and a couple of runs late,” Farrell said yesterday.
