Junichi Tazawa- Not a Closer

“It’s a learning experience for (Tazawa)—-he’s going to be better off for this moment”, Red Sox interim manager Tony Lovullo was quoted as saying .

I can’t agree. Sunday’s implosion against Kansas City made his record 2-6 with a 3.74 ERA (high for a relief pitcher). His WHIP has risen to 1.128. Amazingly, he has blown 6 saves out of 8 chances.

Who can replace Tazawa as closer. The Sox seem to be going with “closer by committee”, which in this case means “no closer at tall”. For example, Alex Ogando is a possible choice, but he has had his share of bad outings, and his WHIP is similar to Tazawa’s.
