In a blog in March 2013, I wrote about former Red Sox shortstop Jose Iglesias: ” He is already a star in the field…He is trying to become a better hitter, working last winter with Dustin Pedroia…The man is obviously working to improve. He deserves at least an opportunity.”
A Cuban defector, Iglesias was signed by the Sox in 2009 as an international free agent. In 2011 and 2012, he was up and down, appearing in 83 games and batting just .185 with 2 rbi’s. His slashes were generally poor
Iglesias finally came up to stay with Boston on May 24, 2013.
