When former Red Sox pitcher Jon Lester weighed in on the relationship of social media and professional athletes, he naturally did so on Twitter.
Preaching due diligence in the curation of a social media account that thousands of fans and media members can locate, Lester urged “young guys” to “spend the 5 minutes it takes to scrub your account of anything you wouldn’t want plastered next to your face on the front page of a newspaper.”
The tweet comes after National League players Trea Turner and Sean Newcomb were both discovered to have made offensive remarks on social media before becoming professional baseball players.
