There was -- to put it lightly -- a strong disagreement between Red Sox manager John Farrell and the umpiring crew after Fernando Abad was controversially called for a balk during the seventh inning of the Sox' 6-3 loss to the Angels on Saturday night.
Angels right fielder Kole Calhoun seemed to have called time and stepped out of the batter's box when Abad stepped off the rubber, but home-plate umpire Ryan Blakney saw it another way.
The call allowed Cameron Maybin to score from third, and Farrell was not pleased.
The manager raced out from the dugout to protest the call, which ended with his ejection as he went face to face with crew chief Bill Miller in an animated argument.
