LOS ANGELES (AP) — Reliever Joe Kelly has proven disappointing in his first two outings with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Kelly — who signed a $25 million, three-year deal to come over from the Red Sox in December — didn’t allow a run in five World Series appearances against the Dodgers last fall. The start of this season has been much different.
Against the San Francisco Giants Monday, Kelly gave up a solo home run to first baseman Brandon Belt on his first pitch of the sixth inning.
“Home runs aren’t my focus but anytime you get a good pitch to hit and get good wood on it, it feels good,” Belt said.
