Play-by-play man Don Orsillo is gone, but NESN announced yesterday that Jerry Remy will officially return as the Red Sox’ primary color analyst during broadcasts in 2016.
NESN representatives had been saying all along that Remy would return in 2016, though there was some uncertainty over what his role would be.
In an official press release, NESN said Remy would be the color man for “at least 100 games” per season. He’s typically worked well over 100 games per year, only taking time off for health or family reasons, or if NESN mandated it.
“NESN and the Red Sox have been very good to me over the years and I hope to continue for a long period of time what I consider to be the best job in the world of broadcasting,” said Remy, who enters his 29th season with NESN.
