Jennings: Eduardo Nunez still needs to learn how to ease off the gas pedal

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — When Eduardo Nunez slid across home plate on Opening Day, he threw both hands and feet in the air, keeping only his belly on the ground until Xander Bogaerts picked him up with a hug.

Nunez smiled. Then he laughed. Then he did some sort of bow-and-arrow motion to celebrate an inside-the-park home run that was equal parts thrilling and rewarding.

Nunez loved it, he soaked it in, and if he could do it all over again . . .

He would stop at third base.

Using his speed made Nunez an impact player in the big leagues, but he said the Red Sox training staff has told him to use a little more than that.
