BOSTON -- J.D. Martinez blasted his Major League-leading 21st home run of the season against the White Sox on Saturday to give the Red Sox a 4-2 lead in the fifth inning.
Martinez stepped up to the plate with Xander Bogaerts on first base and the game tied at 2. On an 0-2 pitch, he drilled the ball to right-center into the Red Sox bullpen. It had an exit velocity of 102 mph and traveled 391 feet, according to Statcast™.
Sixteen of Martinez's home runs have come since the start of May.
