BOSTON -- Stifled by Rays starter Blake Snell for most of the night, the Red Sox hoped they could mount a comeback once the lefty finally came out. But they fell one big hit short, and took a 4-3 loss in Friday night's opener of a six-game homestand at Fenway Park.
The Boston bats have been spotty in recent days, and that put more pressure on Drew Pomeranz in his second start back from the disabled list, which didn't go well.
Pomeranz surrendered three towering homers while giving up a total of six hits and four runs over five innings.
