BOSTON -- J.D. Martinez clubbed his 17th homer in the fifth inning of Monday afternoon's game vs. the Blue Jays at Fenway Park. With the blast, Martinez tied teammate Mookie Betts and Mike Trout for the Major League lead.
An inning before Martinez's fireworks, Andrew Benintendi did his best impersonation of Betts in the leadoff spot for the Red Sox when he belted a three-run homer over the Green Monster to spark a five-run bottom of the fourth.
With Betts out of the lineup due to tightness in his left side, Benintendi batted leadoff for the fourth time this season.
