NEW YORK -- Less than 24 hours after being traded to the Red Sox, Steve Pearce not only joined his new team, but batted cleanup and started at first base for the opener of a three-game rivalry showdown vs. the Yankees on Friday night at Yankee Stadium.
Pearce was hanging out with some of his Blue Jays teammates on a team off-day when he got the news that he had been traded to Boston.
"I'm very excited," Pearce said. "This was my childhood favorite team, so it's good to be here.
