OXFORD, Mass. — Late major league umpire Steve Palermo has had a street named after him in his Massachusetts hometown.
The Oxford Board of Selectman voted 4-0 Wednesday to name a stretch of unnamed road in town Palermo Drive.
Selectman John Saad made the motion. He tells The Telegram & Gazette (http://bit.ly/2riq0ML ) it was a way to honor a local hero and show the town's appreciation to the Palermo family, many of whom still live in the area.
Palermo was a standout baseball and basketball player at Oxford High School.
