Holt hits for cycle as Red Sox snap skid

Brock Holt led off in place of Dustin Pedroia (sore left knee) and hit for the cycle, the first time a Boston batter has accomplished that feat since John Valentin on June 6, 1996.

After doubling in the first, hitting a single in the fifth and clubbing a homer to the opposite field in left in the seventh, Holt completed the cycle with a triple to center in the eighth.

Lefty Wade Miley, who engaged in a public spat with Farrell in his last start, bounced back nicely by firing 6 1/3 strong innings for the win.
