BOSTON -- Stuck in an offensive rut that has lasted for most of May, the Red Sox added an insurance run in Saturday's 8-3 win over the Angels on a brilliant bit of baserunning.
With Brock Holt standing on first in the eighth inning, the team executed a hit-and-run as Blake Swihart knocked a bloop single that slowed in the grass in shallow right field. While the Angels were slow to react to the play, third-base coach Brian Butterfield sent Holt home to score him all the way from first base.
