BOCA RATON, Fla. — Let’s play a little game of Name That Outfielder.
Clue No. 1: He was rushed to the big leagues after a strong spring training in 2013 despite having never played above the Double-A level. But after struggling badly at the plate, he was sent back to Triple A to refine his approach.
Clue No. 2: Through nearly 500 at-bats in the majors, he was a .201 hitter with a .606 OPS. And despite the fact he plays dazzling defense and has a rocket-launcher arm, his status on the depth chart had become tenuous entering the 2015 season because of his shortcomings offensively.
