Mookie Betts made headlines away from the baseball diamond in between World Series games. And while that’s an indicator of trouble for some athletes, it only showcased the Red Sox outfielder’s generosity.
Betts helped donate food to Boston’s homeless after the second game of the World Series. Along with friends and members of his family, he delivered food near the Boston Public Library.
Since the news became public, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reached Betts’s mother, Diana Collins, who offered some background:
We had the food catered in after the game, most of the time we do that after a game.
