Red Sox pitching prospect Brian Johnson was in the passenger seat of a car in a convenience store parking lot at 2 a.m. yesterday when a man approached with a gun, according to FloridaToday.com.
The gun was fired into the ground in an attempted carjacking incident in Cocoa Beach, Fla., Johnson’s hometown, but nobody was hurt. The 31-year-old male suspect, a convicted felon on probation, was soon arrested.
The Red Sox released the following statement regarding the issue: “Brian made us aware of this incident earlier today. As media reports indicate, a suspect has been arrested. We are thankful that Brian came away unharmed.
