The New York Yankees lost a baseball game in the Bronx this afternoon, falling 7-1 to their ancient rival, Gerrit Cole.
The Yankees held Cole at bay for three innings, and even took a 1-0 lead early in the game, thanks to three consecutive singles by Anthony Volpe, Alex Verdugo, and Gleyber Torres. But Cole exploded for four runs in the top of the fourth via a bases-empty intentional walk, a stolen base, an unintentional walk, and two singles.
Cole didn’t wait long to strike again after the Yankees failed to battle back in the bottom of the inning.
