Game 56 (4-2 W, 25-31): Better Game, Ugly Scene

Seems impossible, before getting into the game, not to mention the night’s ghastly moment: A female fan, sitting in the second row between the end of the protective screen and the Oakland dugout being struck in the head by a broken bat in the second inning. Fans in the area rushed to the woman’s aid, with several describing never seeing more blood and presuming she went into shock. (Others attempted to shield her young son from seeing the injury.)

Boston Police reports on Friday night were that the injuries were “life threatening,” and the latest as of this writing on Friday morning is the still-unidentified woman remains hospitalized.
