The Red Sox return home tonight after a solid 4-3 road trip to Baltimore and Houston. They kick things off against the red hot D-Backs, who are 27-9 in their last 36 games.
The snakes are sending Ryne Nelson to the hill, and he’s sneakily been a big part of their recent success, posting a 2.73 ERA and holding opponents to a .593 OPS in his last nine outings.
Meanwhile, the Sox are countering with Brayan Bello, who has also looked better over his last handful of starts.
Sitting 3.5 games out of the final Wild Card spot, the Sox likely need to rip off an outstanding homestand somewhere between now and the end of the season to make the postseason.
