Francona keeps mood light in visit with Farrell

Nobody can defuse a situation quite like Terry Francona can.
So upon his early-morning arrival at Mass General Hospital to visit his close friend John Farrell just before his first chemotherapy session today, Francona cut through the anxiety and concern and got down to the business at hand.
Like, reminding Farrell that some taxi rides are not cheap.
“I told (Farrell) point blank, 'Man, I'm not here as your friend.' I said 'You owe me 20 dollars. If something happens to you, I want my 20 bucks.' ”
Bench coach Brad Mills mooched the taxi ride with Francona and the two of them, said Francona, attempted to keep the atmosphere as light as they could.
